4 Things We Love About Vacationing at Wears Valley Cabin Rentals
Hearthside at the Preserve is located in the heart of Wears Valley, TN, and there isn’t anywhere else in the world we would rather be! Located a short drive away from Pigeon Forge, the community of Wears Valley is one of the most scenic spots in the Smoky Mountain region. We have put together a list of five things we love about vacationing at Wears Valley cabin rentals.
1. Ideal Natural Conditions
Wears Valley boasts one of the most enviable locations in the Smokies. Sitting about 500 feet higher in elevation than Pigeon Forge and Sevierville, Wears Valley offers truly spectacular views of the mountains. When you stay at the Preserve Resort, you will have a front row seat to these amazing vistas, either from your cabin’s deck, the resort swimming pool, or the resort’s picnic pavilion.
Wears Valley’s higher elevation also means that the area has slightly cooler temperatures than the surrounding cities. Being three or four degrees colder can be a great perk during the dog days of summer!
2. The Perfect Distance from the Parkway
Featuring a seemingly endless parade of dinner theaters, attractions, go kart tracks, and more family fun, the Pigeon Forge Parkway is where all of the action is in the Smoky Mountains. While it is great to be near all of the activity, staying right on the Parkway for your vacation can be a little overwhelming.
When you stay at our Wears Valley cabin rentals, you will be about a half hour’s drive from the Parkway. For vacationers who are looking for some peace and quiet on their getaway, this distance is just perfect. You’ll be tucked away from the hustle and bustle of downtown, but you’ll never be far from all of the wonderful things to do in the area. It’s truly the best of both worlds!

3. Secret Entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park
If you weren’t already convinced that Wears Valley has the best location in the Smokies, you will be soon! The Preserve Resort is less than twenty minutes away from a secret entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The Wears Valley entrance to the park is considered a “secret” because it is not as popular as the Gatlinburg entrance and is used mostly by locals.
When you enter the park via Wears Valley, you will find yourself at Metcalf Bottoms, a beautiful picnic area located right on the Little River. This idyllic spot offers great fly fishing, tubing, and hiking trails that lead to the historic Little Greenbrier School and the Walker Sisters Place.
4. Excellent Restaurants in the Area
Wears Valley is home to some of the area’s very best restaurants! Here are some of our favorite places to dine that are just a short drive from the Preserve Resort:
- Elvira’s Cafe
- Friendly Falls
- Grandmother’s Kitchen
- Geppetto’s Restaurant
